Global Birdfair has been spearheaded by Tim Appleton MBE, founder of the original Birdfair back in 1989.  At the end of 2021 the organisers of the original Birdfair made the decision not to continue to stage the event post-Covid.

Global Birdfair picked up the event baton from its predecessor to run a not-for-profit festival along the lines of the old British Birdfair.

I spent the full three days there and had a brilliant time. I was invited to this event to do my “Best of British” talk on the opening and closing days.

Best of British

Witness some of the amazing wildlife we have here in the UK with my talk that celebrates all that is beautiful in our British countryside. From my early life as a member of the YOC – (young ornithologist club) to the present my talk will show you why I’m so passionate about our stunning wildlife here in the British Isles.

I’ve photographed a lot of that wildlife spending time in places where I grew up in and found my passion for the natural world. From the Peak District to as far as the Shetland isles to our dramatic coastline I will show and inspire you with the best of British wildlife. – craig jones

Thank you to those that attended and I really hope you enjoyed my talk, while witnessing some of the incredible wildlife we have here in Britain.

I was also invited to talk about my passion for wildlife and how nature has helped me with the editor of the Bird Watching Magazine, Matt Merritt.

Making Wildlife Part of Your Life

“Listen and be inspired as Matt Merritt, Editor of Birdwatching Magazine talks to Craig Jones about his life through his love of wildlife and photography.” – Global Birdfair.

Inspiring others with my own story and passion for the natural world.

Childhood – Soldier – Adult.

Nature has always been my constant companion.

I had a great time on the Saturday and Sunday as Matt asked me lots of questions.Touching on a wide range of topics from wildlife photography, ethics, childhood, mental health and advice from my recent articles.

So many great events over the three days it was absolutely non-stop. Thank you to Matt, editor of Bird Watching Magazine for being a great host on our Q&A sessions which I throughly enjoyed.

I met lots of lovely people over the three days. Thank you all for the conversation’s, brews, bookings and kind words about my work and what I try and do with my camera.

A big thank you to Tim and Penny for all your hardwork in making Global Birdfair such a success.  It was such a brilliant event and I wish you both all the best with it in the future.
